Dear Friends, Today we
are facing issue in installing oracle client on Windows 8.1 64 bit Operating
System and not able to excess the database user from visual studio 2008/2010.
We face below issue
while installing oracle client on windows 8.1 64-bit OS.
- we install oracle client 10g 32 bit and 64 bit one by
one on win 8.1 64-bit OS. after installing 10g client we successfully get
connection from Toad "but we not able to connect user
from visual studio 2008/2010"
- Not able to connect oracle database from visual studio on windows 8/8.1.
- After i tried using oracle client 11g 64 bit on windows
8.1 operating system but after unzip the oracle 11g client the setup.exe
file not working. after click on setup.exe we not get installation page.
than after i try without extracting (do not unzip the client file) source
file just double click on zip/rar file and directly run the setup.exe
file.
- After installing oracle 64-bit client on windows 8.1
64-bit OS its also give version mismatch "64 bit mode with the
32 bit Oracle client installed" while login in visual studio.
Solution: So at last i install ORACLE 11g 32-bit 11.2.0.4 Client on Windows 8.1
64-bit Operating system without unzip the oracle client source file and run
setup.exe file.

so whenever you get problem on
installing oracle 11g client or database on windows 8/8.1 os please do not
extract the setup source file. try to install the client or database without
unzip or extract.
