After installing oracle client you need to edit TNSNAMES.ORA file for connecting oracle database.

locaton of TNSNAMES.ORA file in oracle client 11g is "D:\app\user\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN"

Example:

change below value in your tnsnames.ora file to connect your remote database server.
